Lynn Le Tourneau

Lynn Le Tourneau

Lynn Le Tourneau is a contemporary painter, printmaker and figurative sculptor. In two-dimensional work her style is abstract, energetic and colorful diving into the essence of life.

A New York City native, Lynn studied at the Art Students League and the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. In 1982, she settled in San Francisco and pursued her art career as a figurative sculptor. Many of her sculptures were included in the independent film In the Wake, which has been viewed internationally.

Newly married, Lynn moved to the central coast and studied with known sculptor Bela Basci. Influenced by the natural beauty and color of Santa Barbara, her desire to paint grew. Instead of responding and interpreting what she saw, Lynn began to paint what she felt. She describes her process:

Every canvas I paint creates a window for self-discovery. Working abstractly allows the power of the unconscious to emerge and I rely on my intuition, body, and instincts to guide me. In this soul/process of discovery cellular memories, natural landscapes, and archetypal images emerge.

Lynn paints predominately in oils and also enjoys a mixed media technique of layering paper onto the canvas. In addition to various brush techniques, she uses the palette knife and mediums to sculpt the paint.

Lynn Le Tourneau is a juried member of the Santa Barbara Printmakers, Santa Barbara Art Association and the Ventura County Potter's Guild. Lynn was juried into the Contemporary International Art show at the Museum of the Americas, Miami, Florida. She has been selected to be in the International Contemporary Masters V and Important Artists of the World 2012 art publications. Ms. Le Tourneau's work can be found in galleries in Ventura and Santa Barbara and is enjoyed in collections throughout the United States.
